Every Country and Western fan will find these ten CDs a real
treasure trove with the best of Johnny Cash records on the
Sun and Columbia labels. Altogether there are 14 original
LPs and bonus titles – more music cannot be squeezed
into a box – from religious songs through cover versions
of Don Gibson and Hank Williams to Rockabilly. But the
focus is on Johnny Cash’s own million-selling successes
that he made despite huge alcohol and drug problems.
Innumerable honours and awards came his way during his
long career and he supported suppressed minorities. This
box documents his rise to becoming the most successful
post-WW2 Country singer from his musical beginnings with
Sun studios; frequently his songs reached the pop charts.

Only exceptions: Slim Dusty and Johnny Duncan & His Bluegrass Boys, because they were only successful in the UK. Johnny Duncan was an American citizen who participated in the British "skiffle boom".

Image 10CD-BOX: Blue Grass
On 10 CDs (200 items) you can experience the amazing dynamics of the Bluegrass. Here is the well-known representative of this C & W genres are gathered: first and foremost the King of Bluegrass - Bill Monroe, which forms the basis of this collection alone with about 50 titles. Of course, Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, The Reno Brothers, The Bailey Brothers, Grandpa Jones, The Stanley Brothers and listen to all the other heroes here. But of course, we have also some treasures excavated from the beginnings of Bluegrass Music. Bluegrass is part of the wide genre of music Country- and is one of the most important American folk music. A typical feature is the pure acoustic sound that, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, dobro, bass and vocals might consists of banjo. The Bluegrass originated in the 1937 to 1945 in the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee. The mandolin player Bill Monroe experimented at this time with Old-Time Fiddleund hillbilly pieces, Anglo-American ballads, African-American dance music and traditional gospel harmony vocals. He formed from an enriched from swing and blues elements form of country music. Later, he hired the young banjo player Earl Scruggs, who had perfected the three-finger style of his home state of North Carolina at high speed and precision, thus considerably dynamized the band's sound. The band was called '' Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys '', reminiscent of the '' Blue Grass State '' Kentucky. The term Bluegrass refers to the blue-green due to the nutrient-rich soil leaves the meadow bluegrass. The new style was therefore referred to by the media later than bluegrass. With Bill Monroe's guitarist Lester Flatt Earl Scruggs Foggy Mountain Boys founded in 1948. More style-musicians of the Bluegrass of the early years were the banjo player Don Reno and Osborne, Jim and Jesse McReynolds and many others.
