The French-Armenian violinist Chouchane Siranossian is one of the most interesting talents of her generation. Very open to present-day developments and experienced in historically informed performance practice, she has made a name for herself as a “universal musician” in circles ranging from baroque music to New Music. It is not surprising, therefore, that Chouchane Siranossian has conceived a mixture of baroque and modern music for her first CD from OehmsClassics – and the aim has been achieved, as can be easily confirmed by listening to this CD.

Enjott Schneider has recourse to unusual subjects in his compositions on this CD. Although the dialectic between triviality and art is still somewhat hidden in the Morgenstern Liederbuch, the Variations on Love (lonely hearts ads) and Chatroom intervene more strongly in the current phenomena of internet-chatting, high-speed cyber-dating and similar things. All the stops are pulled out - linguistically, musically and in terms of tempo.

This is a CD that is sure to make a sensation and will give rise to controversy!

Image Works by Gioseffo Zarlino
Singer Pur

Goseffo Zarlino composed motets and secular works. He achieved significance as the leading music theoretician of the 16th century, having brought together and updated a rich body of ancient literature about music in view of the compositional principles of his own time. His extensive principal work "Istitutioni harmoniche" (1558) is based on the compositional technique of his teacher Adrian Willaert, out of which he developed a systematic, harmony-based key, counterpoint and fugue theory. After having sung madrigals and motets of Adrian Willaert, it was natural that Singer Pur should dedicate themselves to the music of Zarlino as well.
