- In 2005, Eleni Karaindrou - joined by a vast cast - played 3 sold out shows at the Megaron in Athens with a special performance tracing themes of exile in her music for film and stage. These were recombined in a new "journey", a new form, an"Elegy of the Uprooting". A live double album was issued in 2006. Now comes the DVD.
- Seeing/hearing Karaindrou in concert is a unique experience - as audiences around the world are discovering. Experiencing Eleni in Athens is doubly special - as this beautifully made concert film makes evident.
- Watching the music being played allows us to investigate more closely the components of Karaindrou's sound world. Particularly fascinating is the way in which the traditional instruments ensemble, playing their 'folk' instruments are embraced by the banks of orchestral strings.
- Soloists include the great singer Maria Farantouri, the voice of Greek freedom - Plus Eleni herself at the piano
- While material from "The Weeping Meadow" and "Trojan Women" is emphasized here, the concert film embraces material from all of Karaindou's ECM discs, with reprises of pieces heard on "Ulysses' Gaze", "Eternity and A Day", "The Suspended Step of the Stork" and "Music for Films" (pieces from "Rosa", "Voyage to Cythera", "Happy Homecoming, Comrade", "Landscape in the Mist", and "The Beekeeper").
- It also adds theatre music for Chekhov's "The Seagull", and music written for Tonia Marketaki's film "The Price of Love".
