Stravinsky, Igor - Konsert - Wand, Günter (conductor)
"When I perform new music," Wand once said, "I must do it as well as possible. Precisely because nobody yet knows these new works, one has to present them with the same extreme degree of respect for the score one accords to the great music of the past. And taking that approach means performing only works with which one can truly identify. I have never performed anything without being convinced of its quality, neither music of the past nor music of the present. At times that naturally caused friction, above all - from a certain point in his creative development - with my friend Bernd Alois Zimmermann, several of whose works I premiered."
