You should of course not speak of a woman's age, but the fact remains that the actress Birgitta Ulfsson (to most of us probably known as Moominmamma) makes her debute in the record business at this age with Levda teatervisor (Lived Theater Songs). Birgitta herself writes in the CD booklet: "Speak-singing actors belong to the no-mans land between two that shouldn't be enemies: lyrics and music. We sing with our body, we retell and we should obviously not make records. Here's one."
Birgitta Ulfsson has collected 15 songs from 50 years on the theater and cabaret stages in Finland and Sweden. She has added a few short poems, as she usually does in her frequent performances around Sweden and Finland, together with the sensitive pianist Lowe Pettersson.
Of course she sings Höstvisa (Autumn song) by Tove Jansson & Erna Tauro. But also their Snusmumrikens vårvisa (Snufkin?s spring song) and other songs from this rich collaboration. And a couple of songs by the Swedish Barbro Hörberg, as well as two of Lars Huldén?s & Kaj Chydenius? most familiar songs: Tango Finlandia and Ollas Viktor. In the list of other famous composers and writers you?ll find Bengt Ahlfors, Kent Andersson, Gunnar Edander and Märta Tikkanen.
