Liederabend 1965
Fritz Wunderlich was one of the most unusual and captivating tenors of the last fifty years. In his tragically short career, he displayed an extraordinary musical versatility - from masterworks of the early Baroque cantatas to Alban Berg's Wozzeck. In this recording, made a year before his death, Wunderlich displays his unquestioned mastery. Here he is joined by his long-time friend and accompanist, Hubert Giesen whose sensitive shading perfectly frames Wunderlich's voice.
