Philippe Giusiano was born in 1973 in Marseille (France). He starts studying the piano in his native town, at the age of five. He studies at the Conservatoire National de region de Marseille (music academy of Marseilles) with Odile Poisson, and then Pierre Barbizet. He is twelve when he is awarded a gold medal by the town (medaille de la ville de Marseille)
He continues his studies for five years at the 'Conservatoire National Superieur de musique de Paris' in Jacques Rouvier's class, where he unanimously wins the first prize in piano at the age of sixteen. In 1993, thanks to a student's grant, he can improve his skills at the Mozarteum of Salzburg. In 1994-1995 he has been studying at the Amsterdam Conservatoire with Jan Wijn.

From 1989 to 1993, he took part in training course of "Holland Music Sessions" and he could then take an advantage of the advice given by masters like Jan Ekier, Adam Wibrowsky, John Perry. This training also gives him the oportunity to perform several times at the famous Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and to do a world-wide tour in March 1993, when he played in some of the biggest concert halls. Among others: New York (Carnegie Hall), Tokyo (Casals Hall).
Philippe Giusiano won several first prizes in France: in the Liszt competition of Les Pennes - Mirabeau in 1986, at the Darius Milhaud competition in 1987: he was also awarded a first prize in the "Concours de l'Orchestre Philharmonique des Pays de Loire" in 1990. In 1994 he was nominated soloist in residence of the Sophia-Antipolis foundation.
He took part in numerous festivals (Aix, La Chaise-Dieu, La Chatre "Chopin at Georges Sand", Festival international du jeune soliste in Antibes Juan-Ies-Pins). He went on concert tours in Germany,Austria,Japan,Romania,Marocco. .
He is, at the age of seventeen, the youngest winner of the XII-th Frederic Chopin international competition in Warsaw and is very warmly welcomed by the Polish press and public. Five years later, in 1995, he goes in for this prestigious competition again and wins the second big prize (first nominated).After this award he now belongs to the exlusive circle of the great pianists.
