Madrigals by Luzzaschi & Agostini
Fascinated by voices and instruments at Renaissance’s time, Denis Raisin Dadre studied the music commissioned by Earl Alfonso II of Ferrare at the end of XVIe and especially the music sung privately every evening by his ladies. As Allegri’s Misere was the Pope’s exclusive priviledge, Earl of Ferrare prohibited any edition of madrigals played at his house. All refined and educated Europe desired to experience and know the unique beauty and virtuosity of the pieces written by Agostini et Luzzaschi.
Hopefully, at Earl’s death, Luzzaschi released twelves madrigals which Denis Raisin Dadre proposes together with Agostini’s pieces. This extraordinary music, of an amazing virtuosity was sung by three ladies: Laura Peperara, Anna Guarini, and Livia d’Arco, whose reputation was know all over Europe. In 1597 the Earl dies without any children. Ferrare has to be given to the church and the outstanding musical life disapears... Doulce Mémoire recreates this secret repertoire thanks to unedited manuscripts of Agostini, Luzzaschi, absolute creative musicians.
