Nystroem, Gösta - Sinfonia del mare - Westerberg, Stig
It is hardly by chance that Gösta Nystroem wrote a sea symphony. "I can't live and attempt to do anything unless I can be near the sea, the one and only", he confided in his book of recollections, published posthumously. To him, the sea was mysterious, at the same time something peaceful for a troubled soul.
Nystroem's third symphony Sinfonia del Mare was written at Capri 1046-48. The symphony is built around a poem and are "dedicated to all sailors on the seven seas".
