HÖGSTA BETYG I SVENSKA DAGBLADET HÖGSTA BETYG I UPSALA NYA TIDNING
4 AV 5 MÖJLIGA I BETYG I SYDSVENSKAN"It brings to a close a recording which I rate highly, even though one can't overlook that the performers are not Italian and that some of the pieces could have been performed with a little more drama. That said, the overall achievement of these Scandinavian musicians is impressive. The brilliance and emotional character of this repertoire is well communicated by this fine ensemble."

'A sparkling diamond and definately one of my records of the year. I always find it difficult to write about older music because often I find that it sounds merely nice or not. But this SACD is so much more and it goes way beyond nice or not. It is a spiritual experience of vast proportions. Monteverdi, who wrote half of the music on this SACD, is the star composer here. His music is so original and emphatic, with his usual twists and turns. Zefiro torna is a pastoral for two tenors and continuo and in a typical Monteverdi fashion we move from a scenic painting to a personal feeling of loss and longing. The two tenors, Leif Aruhn-Solén and Johan Linderoth are esqusite in their handling of Monteverdi´s dissonances and in conveying the feeling of...so much to lose and long for. The highlight on this disc is the gorgeous Non havea Febo ancora where a young(?) lady is so incredibly sad and lonely after being left alone by a betrayer. I don´t know if Monteverdi had a sense of humour, but the comments made by the three men are hilarious. The lament by the nymph is heartfelt and the three men can only sigh and back her up. Poor lady in distress. This is sung by the superb contralto Lena Susanne Norin to perfection and she will make your heart melt, I promise. The rest of the programme consists of music by Carissimi and Castello and everything is performed with utmost taste and expertise and I guarantee that you will love this record! The sound in 5.0 is absolutely splendid. A generous acoustic and still lots of detail coming through. It is recorded by Torbjörn Samuelsson and his ears are among the most sensitive in the business.'

HARMONY OF VOICES was formed in the autumn of 2003 and rapidly established itself as one of the most exciting vocal ensembles in Sweden. The ensemble is made up of singers who also maintain solo singing careers in Sweden or
abroad. The starting point for the ensemble lies in the tradition of chamber music with the solo voice in harmony with other voices and with instruments. The repertoire is concentrated on Early Music and the ensemble's capacity to combine historical authenticity with creative interpretation has won it
considerable renown. The ensemble collaborates regularly with the leading authentic instrument early music bands in Sweden, notably the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and the Stockholm Baroque Orchestra. Harmony of Voices also performs contemporary music and this has led to the ensemble premièring
a number of works specially composed for the group. Harmony of Voices was the Swedish Radio's "artist in residence" in 2004-2005. During this residency the ensemble undertook a number of highly regarded performances of music by composers such as Schütz, Buxtehude, Monteverdi, Desfontaine. Many
of the concerts were recorded by the Swedish Radio and have been broadcast internationally. Harmony of Voices' first CD, devoted to music by Charpentier, was warmly received both in Sweden and abroad and was nominated for a Swedish "Grammis" in 2004.
