Brahms, Johannes - Symphony No. 1 - Wand, Günter (conductor)
Munich Philharmonic was one of two orchestras, (the other being Berlin Philharmonic), that Günter Wand regularly conducted.
Today, almost five years after Wand´s death, it is high time to document his work with this top German orchestra, which has been recording its concerts with technicians and equipment of its own since 1990. Following the Günter Wand Edition featuring previously unreleased radio recordings, PROFIL HÄNSSLER now documents the best of these digitally remastered "live recordings" of the Classical-Romantic repertoire in its new series Günter Wand and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra
Beethoven’s First Symphony, premiered in 1800, may seen as marking the beginning of a stylistic development, which continued through the entire ninetieth century and into the early twentieth the line leading though late Schubert, Brahms and Bruckner up to Gustav Mahler.
