It's rare for a month to go by without a new Piazzolla release, often as a vehicle for some classical celebrity trying for a crossover 'hit'. This excellent disc is different, featuring as it does Christophe Delporte, a true virtuoso of the accordion, who has joined a sextet of classical musicians to present standard Piazzolla 'tango nuevo' numbers, ebulliently and stylishly performed. One feels Astor would have approved - both the performances and the group's name!
